Basically the same as its predecessor T-series notebooks did. The T60 body is a rugged plastic that does not flex. The magnesium reinforced lid won’t flex and provides amazing protection for the screen to power your Dell KD476 Dell U4873 . The keyboard does not flex — at all. The thick metal hinges that attach the screen are very rigid and ensure the screen does not wobble. Like the ThinkPad Z61m, the ThinkPad T60 features a 15.4-inch wide-screen display with a 1,680×1,050 native resolution that affords a large amount of screen real estate (nearly 26 columns and 51 rows on the default Excel spreadsheet) but can make text appear small. Users who fall behind on their Vitamin A supplements can configure the T60 with a 1,280×800 resolution display. As with all ThinkPads, a reading light tucked into the bezel above the screen lets you illuminate the keyboard when working in dark environments. The T60 lacks the built-in Webcam found on the Z61m’s display bezel, but not like the Dell Inspiron E1705 Battery.

As for ThinkVantage, that is useful…To some extent.

I tried to “clean restore” WinXP from the hidden partition (as Windows requires a clean installation after 2 or more years of use), and I get a crapload of errors. The Trackpoint or Touchpad seem to be no longer detected for Dell Latitude D510 Battery Dell Latitude D610 Battery , and so on. And other error messages. I couldn’t get past finishing the install. So I unhid that WinXP Partition, and formatted the sucker clean, gained 8GB back of HDD space. Which is enough for a quadriple boot…Win2k, Slackware, FreeBSD and Solaris. (And they all work fine with the Trackpoint/Touchpad).

When I found out about this neat Ubuntu tablet that is powered by AA Inspiron E1505 Battery, I started wondering if it’s possible to recharge those batteries using the musclepower of kids.

Sure, it’s easy enough for adult muscle power to generate some electricity, but could there be some ways for kids’ musclepower to be harnessed (gently) to recharge AA PC764 batteries?

What kind of not-very-tiring machines could be devised that could store mechanical energy in such a way that the energy could later be released more quickly to recharge AA Inspiron E1405 Battery via a cordless power drill running in reverse?

Of all the possible machines that could be set up (pulley systems, water pumps, hydraulic lifts), which would be the simplest, least costly and least dangerous to set up? Are there any kinds of contraptions that could be created so that even a five year old could be involved in creating electricity to recharge AA Inspiron 700m Battery?

While this would be a potentially fun tool for families to use here in the United States for Sony PCGA-BP2V, PCGA-BP71,, this could be a vital energy production/computing/education tool for families where there is no existing electrical infrastructure.

The idea of storing up a bunch of mechanical energy in order to power a high-torque generator is a good start, but I don’t think it is the right way to go. Instead, it would probably be better to skip the cordless drill, and use something designed to be a crank generator. Most rechargeable batteries can be trickle charged, or charged slowly, so it is probably better to design a hand crank that is easy to turn, and just puts out lower current. Of course, the the trade-off is that it will take longer to charge the PCGA-BP2NY and VGP-BPS8 batteries. I would start with this design for an ipod charger.

Another alternative might be to make a kid-sized pedal-powered generator iBook G4 14 Battery, and use that to charge the batteries. David Butcher made one that looks really nice, and sells plans from his website.
